Gremlin
26ft Derwent Class built 1946
Full restoration of the 1946 Derwent Class yacht “Gremlin”, sail number D7. Built in a backyard in Hobart by three mates, it is now being rebuilt in Kettering by three mates.
Gremlin will be racing amongst the growing fleet of restored boats at the next Derwent Class World Championships and will be on show at the 2025 Australian Wooden Boat Festival.
Work summary
Brace and re-establish original shape, remove deck structure, sheer clamps and stringers (repaired/new and reinstalled), replace ribs and refasten, remove stem and build anew.
